The Ingleside Retirement Community at Creekside
The Ingleside Retirement Community at Creekside is situated near Rock Creek Park and is located in northwest Washington, DC. The Creekside development is a new facility on an existing campus, comprised of three new buildings. It includes luxury apartments and penthouses for Independent Living, apartments for Assisted Living, as well as long-term care and memory care living spaces.
I was tasked with selecting and curating over 200 pieces of artwork from Ingleside’s original art collection. The artwork was created by current and former professional artist residents. Other residents donated or lent artwork from their private collections. In addition, I created an art plan for the public spaces to include contemporary, original artwork for the Independent Living buildings. The artwork for these buildings were selected from Washington, DC galleries and local artist’s studios.
The artwork selected from the original collection was reframed and it unified the various images and sizes. By introducing original artwork, this created a warm and inviting atmosphere for the residents and their families.
I was also fortunate enough to work with the Ingleside Glass Guild. The residents that are members of the guild created a tree with glass leaves which is now a prominent feature in the McCracken building entrance.
Also involved in the 600,000 square foot project are the firms of Perkins-Eastman (Pittsburgh); Whiting-Turner and WING Construction.
